Serenade CPB

Overview

Natural Born Disease Killer

Protect your crops better with Serenade® CPB – a broad-spectrum, biological foliar fungicide that protects canola, pulse, and bean crops against disease and helps suppress sclerotinia in canola.

Western Canadian growers are always looking for new ways to improve their sclerotinia control. Serenade CPB provides many benefits to help you control your crops and can be used as:

  • A cost effective sclerotinia protection for growers looking for an introductory product
  • Part of an Integrated Crop Management program (in combination with the new sclerotinia-tolerant InVigor® canola hybrid)
  • A standalone product for areas where infection is not as severe

Disease Control

Serenade CPB showed a 20% reduction in disease incidence over untreated check and is 5% better than Rovral®.

Yield

On average Serenade CPB provided a +6.8 bu./ac. yield advantage over untreated  and a +3.4 bu./ac. increase over Rovral.

How Does Serenade Work?

Serenade CPB uses multiple modes of action to help protect against a broad spectrum of fungal diseases and bacteria. Research shows that Serenade CPB improves overall plant health by increasing the plant’s natural ability to fight off infection and build up disease immunity.*

Serenade CPB contains natural lipopeptides which punch thousands of tiny holes through the fungal cell membranes that are present on the plant’s surface. This destroys the fungal body by extricating the cell contents. Additionally, anti-bacterial compounds found in Serenade suppress select bacterial pathogens. These multiple modes of action work together to mitigate effects of disease and help maximize your yields.

Application Tips

Overview

  • Broad-spectrum, biological foliar fungicide that provides effective disease protection
  • Protects a variety of crops including canola, pulses and beans
  • Provides suppression of sclerotinia in canola
  • Supplemental treatment or potential tank-mix partner to boost control in heavily diseased fields

Application tips

  • Mix product thoroughly prior to adding to sprayer and before application
  • Use 40-50 mesh screens when transferring product from tote to sprayer equipment
  • pH should be between 4.5 and 8.5
  • Tanks should be sprayed out within 24 hours of mixing
  • Pre-harvest interval – Serenade® CPB can be sprayed up to and including the day of harvest
  • Tank mixing – there are no registered tank mixes; however, Serenade CPB is compatible with all strobilurins and triazole fungicides
  • Store below 25°C for up to 3 years; do not freeze
  • Registered for use by air
  • When using spray nozzle screens finer than 50 mesh, monitor for potential product buildup. This buildup is easily cleaned with water.

Rate
  • 0.16 L/ac. standard rate
  • 0.4-1.6 label range

Timing
Canola

Begin application at 20-30% bloom. A second application may be made 7-10 days later, at approximately 50% bloom and prior to significant petal fall, if conditions for disease development remain favourable.

Soybean

Begin application soon after emergence and when conditions are conducive to disease development. Repeat as necessary on a 7-10 day interval.

Pulses/Beans

Begin application soon after emergence or transplant and when conditions are conducive for disease development. Repeat on 7-10 day intervals.

Active Ingredients

QST 713 strain of dried Bacillus subtilis in an Aqueous Suspension

Resistance Management

Serenade® CPB makes it difficult for diseases to develop resistance thanks to its unique mode of action and fungicide group (44). It helps tackle resistance issues by preventing diseases from developing ways to combat single site synthetic products.

To get the most out of Serenade CPB, it’s best to use it as part of a program approach with other chemistries throughout the growing season. This decreases the chance of resistance for all products on that particular crop.
