    How the MILK2006 Model Helps Predict Animal Performance

    Developed by the University of Wisconsin, the MILK2006 model evaluates corn silage hybrids based on digestibility, fibre, starch, crude protein and animal intake potential. It calculates milk per tonne to estimate the energy available from silage, and milk per acre by combining milk per tonne with dry matter yield. This model helps identify hybrids with strong potential to support milk and meat production — and DEKALB Silage Ready products are tested using this model across a wide range of growing conditions in Canada.
